Meet Sr. Rebecca and Postulant Sylwia!

Name: Sr. Rebecca Marie Hoffart
Entered: May 28, 1984
Made 1st profession: June 28, 1992
Some places you’ve been stationed: Boston; Alexandria, VA; New Orleans; Philadelphia; Toronto, Canada
What drew you to the FSPs? I was drawn to the Daughters of St. Paul when I witnessed their joy and enthusiasm for our mission as well as the beautiful community life they lived together.
Favorite Scripture passage:“I have come so that they may have life and have it to the full.” John 10:10
Other favorite quote: “Jesus is a passionate lover who goes in search of persons who respond to His love. Let us give Him the freedom to take possession of our heart.” Blessed James Alberione
What do you do now? I am our Postulant formator and our vocation director for the St. Louis area.
Do you have any hobbies? I really enjoy reading on different topics such as biographies, historical novels, and spirituality. I also love getting outside to take walks and to enjoy nature.
What would you say to a woman discerning a religious vocation?
First, I would say, “thank you” for being open to following Jesus more closely. If you are discerning a religious vocation it is a great thing to take time to pray every day and it is also important to have patience with yourself, to wait for God’s timing. God will send you the help you need along the way.

Name: Sylwia Skonieczna
Where are you from?
Szczecinek, Polska
Entered: Daughters of St. Paul community in Lublin, October 20, 2005
Where did you go to school? Technical University in Koszalin, Poland, Graphic Design; Specialization: Visual Communication
What do you like to do? I like taking pictures, bike-riding, graphic design, designing websites
How did you meet the Daughters of St. Paul? When I was 15 years old, the Daughters of St. Paul led a retreat in the mountains in Poland. My parish priest invited me and other girls to the retreat. The next year, I went to a retreat with the Daughters of St. Paul in their community in Lublin. The Sisters wrote me letters at Easter and Christmas. For five years, I worked in a publishing house and for a religious newspaper. I liked my job but I felt that I wanted to give more to God. Three years ago, while I was working in Ireland, I was praying to the Holy Spirit to know what to do with my life. I remembered the Daughters of St. Paul and I sent an e-mail to the Sisters telling them that I wanted to be a Daughter of St. Paul and asking them what I needed to do. The Sisters invited me to live with them to experience life in community.
Favorite Scripture passage: "Wystarczy ci mojej łaski. Moc bowiem w słabości się doskonali" (2Kor 12,9); "My grace is enough for you, for my power is made perfect in your weakness.” (2 Cor. 12:9)
