St. Louis: Lights, Camera, Action!

Wednesday,
July 22:
We were all movie stars today! A gentleman came today from the company in Chicago that is filming our new vocation video. He interviewed each of us about our vocation and our community. Then he filmed us working, walking, praying, and even eating! Besides St. Louis, he will also go to our communities in Chicago, Boston, Los Angeles, and Miami. Pray for the success of this project!

St. Louis: Steubenville Conference Week Two

Friday,
July 17 -
Sunday,
July 19:
Sr. Rebecca and Emily went back to Springfield, Missouri, for the second Steubenville conference for young people. This week, we helped in the bookstore. It was a great opportunity for us to meet young women who are interested in religious life. Our new Archbishop of St. Louis, Archbishop Robert Carlson, celebrated Mass on Sunday. At the end of Mass, they invited first the young women who are thinking about religious life, and then the young men who are thinking about the priesthood, to come up onto the stage, and the archbishop said a prayer of blessing over them. It was beautiful to see how many young people are open to God's call for their lives!

Youth Conference in Springfield, MO

Friday,
July 11 -
Sunday,
July 12:

Sr. Rebecca, Emily, and Sr. Irene Regina (from our community in Chicago) went to the Steubenville youth conference in Springfield, Missouri. More than 2,000 young people attended from Missouri but also from places like Texas and Minnesota! There were also twenty-five priests there. We helped Sr. Irene to prepare the bookstore before the conference. During the weekend, Sr. Rebecca and Emily, and some sisters from other communities, helped to guide the young people to the talks and times of prayer. A very powerful part of the weekend for the youth was Eucharistic Adoration on Friday and Saturday nights. We had many opportunities to speak with the young people and share about our life and our community. It was great to be with them and to see how excited they are about God in their lives!
P.S. Pray for us next weekend as we go to a second Steubenville youth conference!

Sunday at the Beach

Sunday,
July 5:
We went to the party to celebrate the birthday of Sr. Roberta’s mother. Her parents have a beautiful house on the beach. We had great food, wonderful company, and lots of sunshine.

Boston Pops and Fireworks!

Saturday,
July 4:
After our picnic lunch on the Fourth of July, we went downtown. At the Esplanade on the Charles River in Boston, half a million people gathered to picnic, hear the Boston Pops concert, and see the fireworks. We saw some of Sylwia’s friends from school, and we really enjoyed the fireworks! Happy Independence Day!

Happy Fourth of July!

Saturday,
July 4:
It was Sylwia’s first Fourth of July in the U.S. (although she has had a few fourths of July in Poland :). After a week of rain, we had beautiful sunny weather. We had a picnic lunch. One of the sisters made a cake that looked like an American flag! After lunch we played Frisbee and enjoyed the sunshine.
