Exhibit at St. Patrick’s Parish in Wentzville

Saturday/
Sunday,
September 26-27:
Sylwia, Emily, and Sr. Rebecca went to Wentzville, Missouri, for a book and media exhibit at St. Patrick’s Parish. We set up the display outside, because it was such a beautiful day, so all the people could see us. Many people took DVDs, CDs, and books. It was a good opportunity to tell them who we are and about our bookcenter, too.

Theology of the Body: Talk at St. Catherine Laboure

Thursday,
September 24:
Sr. Helena, Sylwia, Emily, and Sr. Emi went to XLT (Extreme Life Teen) at St. Catherine Laboure Parish. Many young people gather once a month at St. Catherine's for music, a talk, and Eucharistic Adoration, and this month Sr. Helena was the speaker. She spoke about "Theology of the Body" and vocation. It was a beautiful talk, and wonderful to see how responsive the young people were. We also brought a small book exhibit, and Sylwia and Emily helped with that. A great evening!

Theology of the Body: Talk at Our Bookcenter

Wednesday,
September 23:
Sr. Helena gave an introduction to "Theology of the Body" at our bookcenter. People of many different ages came, including a youth group. They enjoyed the talk, and also enjoyed speaking to Sr. Helena after.

Theology of the Body: Talk at SEMO University

Tuesday,
September 22:

Sr. Helena Raphael came from our community in Chicago to speak on John Paul II's
"Theology of the Body." Her first talk was at the campus ministry center of Southeastern Missouri University in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Emily and Sr. Rebecca went with her. They welcomed us very warmly, and close to thirty young people came to hear her speak. It was an excellent talk, and the young people were really interested and bought many books! We had a lot of fun talking with them after.

Tour of Meramec Caverns

Sunday,
September 20:

The postulant community went to Meramec Caverns for free Sunday. Meramec Caverns are a group of four hundred million year old caverns about an hour west of St. Louis. We had a fascinating tour and saw many beautiful rock formations. There was beautiful clear water that reflected the cave ceiling, and even a statue of Jesse James! We took lots of pictures!

Visit from the Archbishop!

Wednesday,
September 16:

Our new Archbishop, Robert Carlson, came to our house for supper! The whole community helped to prepare the table, the meal, and the dessert. We had a wonderful time with him. He is very nice and easy to talk to. He told us many stories about himself, and he was interested to hear about our mission and the bookcenter. We hope that he will come back!

September Seniors' Day

Tuesday,
September 15:

More than twenty people came to our afternoon of reflection for seniors. Fr. Hinni gave a conference about prayer, and then Sr. Emi guided a time of Adoration (and Emily played the keyboard). Emily spoke to a nice lady who came into the bookcenter in the morning, heard about the Seniors' Day, and decided to stay for the afternoon! She and all the people enjoyed their time with us very much.

Supper with Charlie

Sunday,
September 13:
The whole community went to our friend Charlie’s house for a barbeque. Charlie is a wonderful gardener and has a beautiful yard with many flowers. He is also a wonderful cook! Some of his family and other friends were there, and we had a fun time playing cards with his granddaughter. We thank God for such beautiful friends!

St. Louis: Japanese Festival

Monday,
September 7:

Sr. Assumpta, Sr. Rebecca, Sr. Emi, and Emily went to the Missouri Botanical Gardens in St. Louis for the Japanese Festival! We saw a sumo wrestling demonstration, ate yaki soba (fried noodles) for lunch, saw a Japanese drum concert, and much more. Sr. Emi, whose mother is from Japan, was our great tour guide and shared with us many interesting things about her experience of visiting her family in Japan. It is a blessing to live in such an international community among sisters who are so happy to share their culture!
